Last summer the Chamber coordinated with an Australian film company to create this bourbon commercial for Australian television. See if you can spot the locations in Woodford County.

At The Chamber Red Tie Gala/Chamber Awards Night the Chamber was proud to recognize the following businesses and organizations that make Woodford County a great place to live and work. The following awards were presented.

Business Impact Award – Presented to the Woodford County Chamber member who has made or will make a major economic impact in Woodford County.

This business/government agency has been very instrumental in the economic growth of Versailles and Woodford County. They have stepped forward and hired a full time economic development coordinator, recruited and supported a new hotel that is currently being built and have been a major supporter of events that bring many individuals to downtown Versailles.

Business of the Year Award - Presented to the Woodford County Chamber of Commerce member who has contributed greatly to Woodford County.

This member has contributed greatly to the health care of Woodford County. Since opening they have provided a facility that is a showplace for senior health care. They have established an area wide health care coalition, put on seminars for seniors as well as for health care providers. They provide a means for regional health care providers to get together and discuss a variety of health care issues.

The Award presented to Daisy Hill Senior Living, accepting the award was Laurie Dorough, Executive Director.

Tourism Achievement Award - Presented to the tourism attraction for their contribution as a local tourist asset and their success in promoting tourism. This year there are two award recipients

The first award: This business is a major part of the wine trail going through Woodford County. They have hosted many weddings, concerts and other events that brought over 51,000 tourist to Woodford County last year.

The Award presented to: Equus Run Vineyards. Accepting the award was Cynthia Bohn Owner.

The Second Tourism Achievement Award: This business located in the southern portion of Woodford County is well known throughout Kentucky and adjoining states. Many bus tours and car clubs frequently come to this location to enjoy a great meal at the Glitz and shop two floors of antiques. This year over 50,000 tourist visited this facility from 15 different states and five countries.

The Award presented to: Irish Acres/The Glitz Accepting the award was Emilie McCauley and Jane Delauter.

New Business of the Year – Presented to a Chamber member who has been in business for at least 6 months and has experienced growth and success. This year there are two award recipients

The first award. Since opening their office in 2016 they have recruited/screened/ and or employed over 450 people within our local community. When they opened in Versailles they only had one client, now they have over 20 clients ranging from large manufacturing plants to small businesses. Their goal is to grow and support Woodford County’s growth.

The Award presented to: Hamilton-Ryker Accepting the award was Ashley Young Area Manager.

Second Award: This organization started with a plan but little else, no electricity, overgrown and dilapidated facilities, and no employees. They have become a show place for Woodford County employing over 25 individuals this year and are projecting to have 50 employees by the end of 2018. They turned the buildings into a showcase in which they are now distilling, storing barrels in the largest barrel storage facility in the world and providing a venue for weddings and receptions.

The Award presented to: Castle and Key Distillery accepting the award was Will Arvin, Marianne Barns, David Barns, and Johnathan Newton.

Legacy Award – Presented to the Woodford County Chamber of Commerce member who has been a consistent member of the Chamber for a minimum of 10 years or more that has made a continued impact on the community.

This individual has been a long time Chamber member and has been one of the biggest supporters for all organizations, including the Woodford County Humane society, sports teams and other organizations in Woodford County. He was instrumental in obtaining funding for the professional disk golf course at Falling Springs, and starting the Bike, Hike, Trail Waterway organization. His generosity throughout the years is unmatched.

Presented by the Cooperative Extension Office:
The Outstanding Farmer of the Year is given to a young producer who has shown innovation and involvement not only in their own operation, but throughout the agriculture community as well. Maggie Dungan of Salad Days Farm is the winner for 2017.

Presented by the Cooperative Extension Office:
The Distinguished Farmer of the Year is given to a producer who has dedicated themselves to promoting and advancing agriculture in Woodford County. The 2017 award winner is Dr. Henry Allen of Wayward Hill Farm (not pictured).

We want to congratulate all the award winners and also thank everyone in the community that has contributed to make Woodford County a better place to live, work, and play.
